We suggested using Shou Sugi Bhan (scorching the timber and sealing it with linseed oil) on the bench in the center of the photograph. Our client had tried unsuccessfully to have it renovated to its original condition but it always looked tatty and passed its best. She was very happy with the scorched finish and it has lasted many years .
